About Me

Hi, my name is Sarah Walker, and I am a photographer based in Tasmania, Australia. You'll find me all over the state with my camera. Photography and horses have always been a part of my life, so naturally I decided to combine both of my passions into one. The first event I ever took my camera to was the Launceston Show, I had no idea what I was doing, and most of the photos were awful. Since then, I have learnt many lessons - some much harder than others - that have shaped me into the photographer I am today.

I share my home with two border collies, a golden retriever, and any number of foster kittens. My dogs have really have inspired me to delve into the world of canine photography. Whilst each of our four legged friends are a little different, I am loving the challenge that comes with working with a different species.

When I'm not taking photos, I enjoy working full time in pharmacy, spending time with my dogs, and borrowing a horse whenever I get the chance.

With a creative eye and effective approach, my goal is to create photos that capture you and your loved ones in a genuine and timeless light, highlighting individuality, and bringing life to every image.

I have had the pleasure of capturing horse and rider pairs, many beloved dogs, maternities, family gatherings, and engagements over the last 11 years of photography.

Now it's your turn.

I cant wait to work with you.

FAQ

Are you available state wide?

Yes! I travel all over Tasmania capturing photos, for both privately booked clients and at horse events. Please contact me to make a booking.

How long have you been taking photos?

I started taking photos with my dads camera years ago, before deciding to take photos at horse events in 2014. From here I went onto be official photographer at more events than I can count. I decided in 2018 to take a break from photography, and spent a year away from doing what I love. I now enjoy working full time and photographing during the weekend, after work, and on my days off.

Can I take photos at events that you are the Official Photographer?

I do ask to keep photography to a minimum if I am official photographer. I am not paid to be at events, and dedicate many hours to getting photos available to riders as soon as possible. My only income is made when people chose to purchase my photos, and sadly have had occasions where I operate at a loss due to photo theft and other photographers making images available.

What kind of gear do you use?

I currently use a Nikon D850 for my photography. I am always adding to my gear bag, but at most events you'll see me with my favourite 70-200mm Nikon lens. I work only with natural light, as most Tasmanian event locations do not require artificial lighting.

How do I order photos?

Photos will be uploaded to my website as soon as possible after the conclusion of an event or booking. To find your favourite images, open the 'clients' page at the top of your screen. This will allow you access to any public galleries and photos can be purchased from here.

Do you charge a travel fee?

An additional travel fee will be included for all photoshoots over 30 minutes from Launceston, Tasmania.
A travel fee may be requested at photographers discretion for horse events in the north west or south of the state.

How many photos come with my session?

Each booking is unique and comes with its own perks! The amount of photos included is dependent on which session you choose. However, if you love more than what you initially select, additional photos can be purchased at a small cost.

Do you have an ABN?

Yes! I am registered with an ABN, the number is 57 971 765 996

Who pays for entrance fees when I book a photoshoot?

Many places around Tasmania charge an entrance fee to view their grounds, such as Table Cape Tulip Farm, Bridestowe Lavender Farm, the Tasmanian Arboretum. Entry fees are not built in to the cost of your photoshoot. You will need to cover your own entry on the day as Sarah Walker Photography covers the photographers entry fee only.
